OHSU takes seriously our responsibility to keep employees and patients safe. When employees are safe, their ability to flourish and contribute to a safe working environment increases. Unfortunately, our emergency department is seeing an increasing number of weapons entering patient care areas. As one solution, we are installing a metal detector in the emergency department entrance and will study its use for six months.
