“Every time I finish listening to this podcast at night, I immediately think, “Now, why did I have to go and do that again?” Luckily, I live in the city, and am thus impervious to all the scary things mentioned in these stories, right? Right?!?
I am very impressed with a Lovecraftian podcast based in Appalachia, set around the 1920s or so. While there are occasional nods to Lovecraft’s racism, even the protagonist characters themselves aren’t particularly comfortable with it and do what they can to be decent without sticking their necks out anymore than they already have by circumstance.
The intro and outro music is appropriately creepy and morbid, be it upbeat or dreary. The host immediately refers to listeners as “family” who have come to hear a tale, and must be braced. While there are specific episodes that are released early - or at all - for financial supporters, the actual seasons of the podcast will be available as they’re created and released.
It’s one of my favorite podcasts. Just make sure you have a light within arm’s reach, and you’ll probably be just fine.”
