Blown Away!
I’m from Appalachia myself, so has been on my “To Listen” list for a few months. Today, I finally gave it a go. Within two minutes of the Prologue episode, I. Was. Hooked. This podcast perfectly captures the superstitions, and the distrust, and the malaise sewn deep into the hills and the hollers and the hearts of those of us who have staked our claims on this impoverished and dying swath of land slashed across 1500 miles of the North American continent. This place runs deep, and it’s curses run deeper. This podcast explores that in a way that can only come from those of us who have experienced it. I cannot recommend this podcast enough!

Well, if you are from around here, you already know about the mines. You know that coal claims our kin. Our blood pours in and the profits seep out. Somewhere. There is an evil that good people don’t understand. It’s here. Keep your lantern low, so you don’t blind yourself in the dark.

Somehow this podcast manages to terrify me and also make me feel at home and safe. The narrators voice is incredible at conveying emotion and these stories wouldn’t be the same without him. I can’t wait for more, I will be anxiously awaiting more terror!

This is how storytelling should be done. Amazing.
