Hits a chord
I grew up in the Appalachian region of East TN. When our friend’s family member died, he kept vigil all night so nothing would, as he said, “take away or over the body”. This podcast captures this strange mix of religion and folklore that permeates the region to this day. The story telling plays in that dark undertone of the culture without being disrespectful or exploitative. The narrator doesn’t over exaggerate the accent, the idioms aren’t rediculous, and the stories are in line with real folktales. Seriously worth the listen!

More reviews of Old Gods of Appalachia
Such a well written, well acted, beautifully paced weird cosmic horrory story. It's more about the journey than the destination and it's a great journey.Read full review »

I have quite a few podcasts that I listen to, and Old Gods of Appalachia is quickly becoming my favorite. I just don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get my weekly fix.
