Groundbreaking Podcast From the Frontline
War is never a first resort, when you join the forces you know it might happen, you know you might go, you might be asked to fight, you might have to defend yourself. But what happens when the very people who are your allies attack you? Audrey Gillan and Dan Maudsley examine a blue on blue strike that occurred in Iraq in 2003. It is exceptionally well researched, it is exceptionally well put together and it examines what happened when two American A10, ground attack aircraft, engaged the lightly armoured vehicles belonging to The Household Cavalry. It is thought provoking, it is sad, it has smiles because bonding takes place whenever we are faced with humanity. Most of all it remembers those lost, those injured and asks questions that have yet to be answered. If you only listen to one podcast this year then make it this one!

Having been involved in a similar blue on blue in the Gulf war that also involved US A10’s I found this difficult to listen too at times. How’re at the same time it helped to come to terms with what may have happened and why I feel the way I do at times.

I’ve served in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere and appreciate the confusion that conflict brings. This outstanding Podcast brings this to life brilliantly. Shocking and enlightening.

What a unique and moving piece of journalism, which shines a light on a really key moment in time, and the impact of war, soldiering and the way it’s reported. 5 stars!
