This week our journey shows us Nami's past. We meet her mother figure Bellemere who is a former Marine who discovered Nami and Nojiko on a battlefield. After rescuing the girls, she takes them to her home in Cocoyashi Village and begins raising her daughters until the Arlong Pirates show up and start demanding tributes be paid for people's survival. Sacrificing herself to save her daughters, Bellemere loses her life, and Nami joins the Arlong Pirates to buy back her village. In the present Arlong betrays Namis trust and has the Marines steal her treasure. Unable to hold back her tears, Nami finally asks for Luffy's help.
