“A show that manages to combine the smug tone of television punditry with aspiring-insider detachment. Canadaland has proven it can produce discussions of political reality rather than of political appearances, so it’s disappointing that this supposedly focused podcast is so shallow and unserious. It’s not interesting or informative to find out what a handful of young journalists found silly among politicos this week, mostly through vague allusions and limp humour. I recommend a reading of Jay Rosen’s text, Why Political Coverage is Broken, to the hosts and guests. As he quotes from Todd Gitlin, at a certain point, the media owe more to the public than helping them become “cognoscenti of their own bamboozlement.””
