Jason Heaton (The Grey NATO) on his second novel, Sweetwater
Listen now
Description
Jason Heaton, everyone’s favourite diving watch guy, is back! Last time we had the pleasure of Heaton’s dulcet tones in our ears, he was talking about his debut novel Depth Charge. Now he’s back with a brand new novel: Sweetwater. Sweetwater sees the return of Tusker, the marine archaeologist, but now the action is a bit closer to home: the icy waters of Lake Superior. What hasn’t changed, though, is Heaton’s brisk adventure thriller tone, which sees the action coming on thick and fast, with the political intrigue as murky as the depths. We don’t dive into too many spoilers with Jason, but we do find out how this novel is different to his first, just how much of Tusker is recognisably Jason, and more. Of course, we also chat about the rest of Jason’s life, from dipping his toes back into watches and how the impossibly cool podcast, The Grey NATO, is going from strength to strength. And before all that, we chat about why Zodiac nails the creative use of colour. This episode is sponsored by Zodiac. Find out about their watches here, or if you’re in Australia, check them out online and in person at Time+Tide. Want to talk about how cool Jason is? Join our Discord.
