Needs better interview skills
Listening the Feb 5, 2021 episode should be stomach-churning for anyone who cares about facts – interviewee Bertica Cabrera Morris belongs on Fox News or Newsmax, not NPR. Host Farai Chideya was obviously out her depth. Cabrera Morris was merely a partisan shill for the Republican party - spreading more staggering lies with little pushback from Chideya. A sample of Cabrera Morris’s falsehoods: Republicans care more about “life”, the last four years (under Trump) were a “path of inclusion” and January 6th did not harm the Republican party. And then this stunning whopper about the violent, murderous sacking of the Capital Building: “It was sad that the other 300,000 people that were peacefully demonstrating, were overlooked, and that most people did not know that they were even there.” No guest – no matter their politics – should be able to lie so freely without being held to account. She also claimed – incredibly – to have done 700 interviews in the last 2.5 years. Oh, really? Even the host was spread a falsehood, announcing: “Most Republicans - but not all - believe that he (Trump) lost.” Has the host and the producers not been paying any attention to the overwhelming reaction to the election results and the firehose of lies by the GOP and the Republicans in general that the election was stolen from them?
