Not digging the insiders vibe
I was excited to learn that Outer Banks This Week was doing a podcast, and with the background these hosts have, they should be ideal for this show. But even as a rental home owner who spends lots of time in the Outer Banks, I feel like an outsider listening to this. I feels too much like two insiders catching up on gossip than sharing information with others. Too much personal banter, too many references to their own circle of friends and associates. And it’s way too hard to know what’s promotional content and what’s editorial. With far less banter, this show could be much shorter. Like debating for two weeks about having friends of the opposite sex…how is that relevant? Thiis is not radio—we don’t need to fill a whole hour every week. Autumn and Justin clearly know the area and seem like they’d be perfect envoys to everything the Outer Banks has to offer. Maybe I’m just not their audience. With extended conversations about watching the Outer Banks TV show or whether you’ve ever made out at some local location, it feels clearly geared toward college-age or twenty-something locals. The morning zoo vibe also contributes to that. I was hoping for a show that would expose visitors to more of what OBX has to offer.

Love this podcast. Finally making my dream come true and moving to the bank, and hearing their happy banter and information about the island makes me feel like a local immediately. Also super helpful in learning the hot spots to see and places to work/visit/ and eat!!
