“Education, education, education Nov 8th Inspiring re US election- I realise only half the adult population voted in the election- neither republican nor democ showing an interest in enfranchising America - we need NEW stories about American states- the states of America- should America be on the curriculum (+ mobile phones and their dark supply chains so we understand how they’re produced and the mediation that produces them instead of letting everyone think they’re just magic.
15th Nov moving away from an individualistic approach to everything (re journalistic commentary but it applies to our relationship to these common problems) to understanding culture is a great thought - when we think of the summer riots we need to integrate economic criticism with neighbourhood + work/opportunity facts in stories (ask questions about actual jobs/quality of jobs/opps all the time) ie that many people because of the ‘way’ they’re allowed access into the economy through the enormous contracted out ‘employers’ need access to real stories about localising the economy history, how jobs, skills, opps should be conversations across the neighbourhood and lifespan. America needs localising Britain needs localising - I think there’s a missing local connection so life experience of work/life/health important”
