Meh
The primary faults with this podcast lie in the poor writing, inconsistent/weak acting, and the over abundance of generic thriller/horror tropes. Exposition was crudely (almost patronizingly) delivered in the form of characters often “finding **another** book with X information inside” among others, and some of the history surrounding key groups of people in the story were written in a way that was overdramatized to a point that my immersion was broken too often. Ex., if this group of people were even vaguely known for committing the heinous acts that gave them a shroud of infamy, EVERYONE would know about it and they wouldn’t be swept under the rug. Personally, one of the worst flaws was the blatant rip of concepts and themes from the film “Hereditary”. Excluding cult-centered horror media, there were too many parallels too ignore. I’m not saying Hereditary was consciously plagiarized, but the similarities were more unsettling than most of the events in the series. I give this show two stars, because despite the issues described above, it had a few interesting ideas (the basic concept/goal of the Family of Fire was fascinating, for example) and it gave me something to listen to for a bit. Hope to see improvement if there is a second season.

Dry
Prepare to hear every line delivered with the same banality as a bored 10th grade student reading Shakespeare. They joke about classic tropes every couple minutes and it really takes me out of the story.
