Frustrating to Implement
There are a lot of good take aways from this pod cast, and I enjoy listening; however, actually implementing this is a whole different story! I agree the more connected the kids are, the better they listen (and that has been a huge take away), but unless you are a stay at home mom who doesn’t actually have to be anywhere at a certain time, this method is likely not for you! The idea that you basically give up structure and correction is not for us, doing this made my life far more frustrating. When my kids are screaming and hitting each other, the pod cast provides no real answer as to how to deal with this! In that moment, “connection” is not a reasonable answer nor is leaving them alone and not correcting the behavior and letting them kill each other. I don’t know, I have taken good things from this, but I’ve also acquired a ton of frustrations and headaches trying to implement these new methods in our house. At the end of the day, I think the frustrations are becoming greater than the benefits. I would like to find a middle ground between doing nothing and constantly punishing, but Michelle states it’s all or nothing; therefore, I’m pretty meh on this pod cast.

This gives me hope. Knowing I can dig into my own hurts and missteps to do better. Michelle is so relatable and makes you feel at ease.

I absolutely love the perspective you have, on putting connection first. I appreciate all the examples you give from your own years as a mother. Thank you for leading the way with such optimal parenting skills.
