“Just listened to the latest episode, having not heard this podcast before. While there is good info for beginners in this episode, I feel the info about Lightroom being the best ‘do it all’ editor is a little biased and misguided. Are you sponsored by Adobe?
It would have been more helpful for beginners to talk through the several other more beginner friendly and pocket friendly options for software out there. Serif Affinity Photo is a fantastic piece of professional RAW editing software that rivals Photoshop for a fraction of the price, and is a one-off payment. There are many other very budget-friendly Photoshop alternative out there, just a quick Google will bring them up. There are also many stripped down but free online, web based photo editors for those beginners who want to get their feet wet before entering into a monthly subscription or shelling out for a piece of more expensive software.
Capture One Pro (in my opinion) is far superior to Lightroom in terms of its RAW engine. It can also be bought as a once-off payment and also has a cataloguing function like Lightroom.”
