From one major to another … The Masters is run and won for 2024, but this week it’s the game’s best women who take centre stage at their first major for the year, The Chevron Championship in Texas. There’s no slowing down for the travelling world golf circus after one of the most enthralling finishes of the year at The Players in Florida. The year is not quite done and dusted in terms of professional golf with three events to look at this week. In the ‘proper’ tournament category is the DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa while the PGA Tour and LPGA team up for what looks to be an interesting mixed teams event in Florida. Meanwhile, some of Australia’s best head to Cathedral Lodge in Victoria for the two day Cathedral Invitational which begins with a Pro-Member.

Tiger Woods is coming back at his own tournament in the Bahamas. but most of the golf world’s attention will be firmly fixed on Sydney and the Australian Open.
The dual men’s and women’s titles will be decided over The Australian and The Lakes layouts with some of the game’s biggest stars on show. Also on this week is the South African Open at the Gary Player designed Blair Atholl Golf and Equestrian Centre while the Asian Tour tees up in Taiwan.

It’s as close to a week off as the global game gets with just two tournaments this week, both part of the DP World Tour schedule and of high importance in their respective parts of the world. In South Africa the Joburg Open tees off at the Jack Nicklaus redesigned Houghton Golf Club, while the first of Australia’s two major events, the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, heads to Royal Queensland as part of the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.
