Repetition and creepiness.
First off, I listened to the first 4 or 5 episodes of this series and in the first three, Dan repeated himself no less than four or five times about an item, technique or method outlined in a previous episode. This makes the series feel slow and unfocused. This can work when the narrator has charisma, but Dan Benjamin is creepy. The way he speaks reminds me of a used car salesman and I just can’t shake the feeling that he is trying to sell me something, even if that something is just “Dan Benjamin” as a product. Finally, although there is some useful advice in here, basically all it boils down to is “get a microphone and go for it!” which doesn’t need 10+ episodes, as far as I’m concerned.
