“If you have a love of cinema, Steven Benedict’s podcast is hands down the best one going. His well-written essays make you feel vastly more informed about each film he covers.
Each essay is thoroughly researched, giving even seasoned cineasts new and interesting information. For me, this is Steven’s USP; he backs up his opinions with proper evidence.
Unlike most critics and academics you come across, you feel that his writing is not about showing off what he knows, rather he is exploring a genuine love of the medium.
Apart from a few notable examples (my personal favourite being ‘The Exorcist’) his essays celebrate each film. But even if he has problems with one, his measured arguments on why the film does or doesn’t work is a refreshing alternative to most other film podcasts.
With an ever-growing archive, those who discover Steven’s work in future will be in for a treat.”
