“I learned of Padraig O’Tuama listening to The Moth when he told a story that I really enjoyed. A few days ago while listening to The Moth, I heard an ad for this podcast and immediately listened to my first episode. I have now listened to them all, shared them all and can’t wait for more.
There is something so special about listening to Padraig’s slow, calm beautiful voice as he reads these poems at the beginning and then he analyzes the words an infinitely compassionate lens.
I have encouraged all of my word loving friends to listen to this podcast and to share this broadly. I am generally not so passionate about Podcasts, but this one is so special and contains nourishing morsels that can feed and replenish hungry aching souls.
We need more reminders of how beautiful life can be in the wake of all that is terrible. When Padraig read The Seven Circles of Hell, I choke cried for the hatred that can live in the hearts and minds of humans and the horrors that can result from that hate. This poem weaves words that allow you t imagine a complete home, a sanctuary of love and laughter, two people who belong to each other and belong in the world. As you are feeling the love of these two people and their life together complete with photos and bones and laughter you are also bearing the knowledge that all the good that you have been allowed to glimpse is simultaneously being destroyed by flames and consumed by blind hatred. I have listened to this poem in particular with several friends who agree that it is absolutely stunning and so very powerful.
Words arranged in this way may may be able to get in to the heads and eventually live in the hearts of those who believe that it is possible for a fellow human to ever be of lesser value.
If I keep going it will take longer to read my review than to listen to just one of Padraig’s wonderful Episodes.
Thank you from the bottom of my fuller heart for creating this Podcast. It is one of the very best things that I have listened to in a very long time.”
