Good show but a little pretentious in it's music choices
I enjoy this show. The New York Times has some great writers and that comes through in this show. What I do not care for is their predictability. The show is about some pretentious world music release which is seldom popular in country of origin but popular in the west, romantic singer songwriters and nearly every commercial release gets a mention. I contrast this show with Sound Opinions of Chicago Public Radio and marvel at how they have the balance just right. I discover artists and at the same time have an excellent mix of genres to listen to. I wish the music popcast would take a risk and stop being so coventional and predictable.

You’re better off listening to Song Exploder and/or Switched On Pop. These shows are much more insightful with actual musical examples—what a concept!
