“Just listened to one of your 2019 podcasts (with Joe Lycett). Really enjoyed it and so many interesting ‘factishes’! In addition to killing dogs, you could have mentioned that the despicable hotel made chefs work double shifts twice a week every week, without time in lieu OR PAYMENT (max pay was for one shift a day). My other half was chef there (including in the spa!) and was at the hotel for 20-hours a day, sometimes for two consecutive days! Imagine being at work (on your feet) from 4am to midnight on consecutive days, getting no time in lieu and not even getting paid for 10 of those hours. After months of protest he obviously told them to FO and walked. He’d left the quality Savoy Hotel to join them and is an internationally recognised chef (Christmas broadcast on Norwegian TV recently). This is a guy who lived 10 years on the streets of one of the poorest capitals on the planet and worked 6 days a week for years at Brazil’s best 5-star hotel so he knows hardship but #CorinthiaLondon had the worst employment abuses he’d ever experienced. Rant over 😊”
