Cracking podcast
Hi Guys first of all cracking podcast, great guests and fantastic insight of academy football from all angles. And I’m actually after a bit of advice for myself and my son, he plays academy football as an U9’s going into U10’s next season, I don’t want to mention the club or names for obvious reasons. The club have been relegated out of league 2 and the academy has a balloon season for next year hoping they get promoted back to league footy next year. Barring that, the clubs academy is poorly run, communication is poor from coaches/managers/physios. Training isn’t strict, they don’t push the players to be great, don’t ask for skills on the ball and my son is a winger and that’s something that he’s always been very good at getting passed players and getting his shots off or making a right decision with the ball and the last year he’s been here he’s lost that. His fitness testing results from the start of the season to now have declined. I don’t even like watching the training sessions anymore, like last week I went and watched and they had the kids doing kick ups for 10 mins and then kicked the ball against the wall for another 10 mins 🥴 and now from my point of view that’s not good enough and that’s not academy football and I want more for my son and I’m struggling to find reasons to keep him here. Do we get out now while there’s time or do we leave it another season and they may get released anyway but then there will be 12 other kids all looking for a new academy get into? It’s a difficult one. Thanks guys a contact for me is insta @ azboshaw if you’d like to get in touch 👍
