“I use Buffy as my media version of comfort food. I acknowledge where it could be better, particularly as it ages, but there are still things I miss even after becoming a social justice-oriented therapist (keeping in mind that learning about and living in a way that supports equity is a life-long journey, not something really to achieve or accomplish and then stop).
So imagine my delight and the amount of humbling (which is part of the delight) I experience listening to this podcast and considering things I have missed even after more than 20 views. I continue to enjoy BtVS for its nostalgia and for what it did for me when I was lonely and isolated as a young person. I think it helped me develop a level of emotional intelligence that I otherwise might not have.
And now this podcast is facilitating more education and considerations that I find priceless.
It would be silly not to mention how hilarious and fun the hosts are. Like I want to hang out with them. The jokes are top-notch. The viewpoints are inspiring. And while I will not say other Buffy podcasts are not good, worth investment, enjoyable, funny, etc., it is super refreshing that the hosts are not CIS het White men (acknowledging there may be other Buffy podcasts that are not hosted by CIS het White men that I just don’t know about).
I recommend this podcast 100% to all viewers of Buffy and Angel.”
