In November 2006 Colin Beavan launched a yearlong project in which he and his family went off the grid and attempted to live in the middle of New York City with as little environmental impact as possible. This experiment was documented in a film and book, No Impact Man, which became international hits. His work now is focused on helping individuals to build lives of meaning and purpose.
