“THIS is the Radio Drama collection I was looking for - but never thought I’d find!! Stories from the UK radio, which was way more varied - and therefore imaginative - than in the U.S. (aside from a few exceptions). When I saw that the first episode, set in a mysterious old train station, was written by Arnold Ridley, who played Godfrey in “Dad’s Army”, I knew this was what I was waiting for.
Looking at the other dramas in this podcast collection of episodes, I felt a wave of euphoria pass through me: and all I can add is, if you like really good audio thrillers - with a slightly uncomfortable touch of the macabre, and a bit more surreal than the American radio mysteries - then I please ask you to give a couple of these a listen and see if they strike a chord with you.
You might not love British entertainment more than American entertainment like I do - but you just might find room in your heart (and your podcast collection) for some radio plays that feel slightly darker than usual.
(And a huge debt of thanks to Karenina for creating “RadioDrama” !!)”
