It’s well made and at times has genuine moments of horror. Unfortunately, it’s another example of one of these movies that just doesn’t carry the ball far enough to deserve remembrance. It is exactly what one expects, and nothing more. And I hate saying this about a movie that has the balls to kill a child, but overall this small story such as it is would have been better off remaining as a part of a larger one. And when tasked with pinpointing exactly what’s missing, I believe it to be a certain amount of cleverness within the confines of the premise. As a big fan of this brand of story, both horror and the “a bunch of people trapped in a confined space within a desperate situation” genres, what’s needed is some clever setup and payoff, especially because we as an audience already know that this Dracula tale is going to end in tragedy. Instead what we get in the end is more or less going through the motions as each cast member gets picked off one by one without any fulfillment of character or personal sacrifice or anything else that may have made this story more than just scraping the bottom of the Dracula lore barrel.
