“Very real, delicately serious situations bleed through in even the most heavily produced reality shows (not saying RHOC is produced in this manner). The issues that Tamra’s son, Ryan, is dealing with in this season of RHOC are discussed callously and irresponsibly by the women on podcast. Clearly this man is dealing with emotions beyond his control and very likely struggling with clinical depression. Tamra even states her fear that her son will kill himself. In saying he should just “get over it,” as the women week-to-week repeatedly advise, the podcast hosts are forcing a solution on Ryan that he doesn’t have. If he could get over it, he would. No one chooses the mindset Ryan is living with. Judging him, as the women harshly do, for not “getting over it” and not expressing more gratitude for the fortunes he’s had, is cruel. This type of judgment further isolates people with potential mental health issues and prevents them from seeking help. It’s judgment that should not be given a platform.”
