I am Not an Alcoholic
Aside from the overt topic of alcoholism, I find Recovery Elevator podcasts speak to very human challenges and emotions that most can relate to, and encourage and provide tools towards an all around healthy and happy life. I am not an alcoholic, but episodes like, “Acceptance Was/Is the Answer” spoke to me so powerfully. Amidst feelings of questioning various aspects of my life, focusing too much on the future and feeling a bit stuck in taking control over the aspects of life I am not happy with, I had a sense that there were people out there in a similar place. Not just that, but I was reminded to be honest about my responsibility for my actions and life, how focus on something, especially something meaningful beyond yourself keeps someone’s mind calm and happy and the importance of staying connected. Recovery Elevator has helped me significantly in understanding the experience of those I know who are alcoholics. But surprisingly, it also inspired for me a true commitment to making some necessary changes in my life. It feels like a consistent and concrete resource and community that I have refreshingly discovered, and it has motivated me to take proper action in my own life in a way that nothing else has in the last five years.
