I used to love this series, but finding the presenters views and politics more and more intolerable, unbearably right wing in how they treat conversation surrounding the Palestinian genocide. Other episodes display insensitivities to victims. About the shorthand sentinelese episode about indigenous people are not for ethnographic use, and how extractive that realm of academia can be. But I disagree with the framing of the Sentinelese indigenous people as hunter gatherers ‘seperated by thousands of years from us’. This suggests they are relics of the past and it is problematic to suggest a sameness between prehistoric populations and people living today where indigenous people are often portrayed as a precursor to western modernity, despite shared hunter gatherer lifestyle.
