“I love their earlier episodes but somewhere along the line it seems the show has become more about self-promotion rather than true crime. The girls now spend most of their time begging for votes, begging for book sales, begging for tour ticket sales, begging for Patreon subscriptions and peddling their woke, cookie-cutter nonsense - all interjected with poorly timed wind chimes which herald an imminent sponsorship mention. It’s clearly all about the money now! Hannah in particularly is sounding more and more like a ‘gap-yah w***er’ who tries too hard to be a lefty because it’s ‘cool’ instead of being herself; the things she comes out with seem forced and cliche, like she’s only saying certain things because she thinks it’s the right thing to say. Their constant bashing of men and force-feeding of opinions is laborious too. Basically, I find myself skipping the first ten minutes because it’s all woke self-promotion and the girls can seem somewhat bitter when things don’t go their way (like that time they didn’t get nominated for a podcast award…eye roll!). In short, they’ve believed their own hype and think people want to hear their constant anecdotes about dating apps and gap years abroad - we’re not here for an hour-long sales pitch with a sprinkle of true crime thrown in as an afterthought! More often than not, lately, they waffle on so much about unrelated topics (or interrupt the flow of their scripts so much with random interjections) that I get halfway through an episode before realising that I completely zoned out and haven’t a clue what the crimes are actually about! Go back to your roots and stop this fake laughing, bragging, snowflake nonsense…oh, and don’t get me started on the new vocal fry you’ve adopted! Between Hannah’s vocal fry making her sound like a Tory brat from ‘Made in Chelsea’ and Suruthi’s whistling every time she says a word with the letter ‘s’ in it making the whole podcast sound like a boiled kettle, I’m not sure why I’ve stuck around this long! Most of their research seems to be courtesy of Wikipedia, Netflix documentaries and YouTube.”
