Description
This episode's message will focus on Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, who is so often seen in the back of the paintings as an old bearded man wearing a brown robe.
But what do we really know about Joseph, the truth is, not a whole lot. He was the husband of Mary. He prepared the manger for the savior. We know he was a descendant of King David. We know he paid five pieces of silver in Jerusalem to secure two doves for Mary to sacrifice. We know he was the man who cheated King Herrod of his prey and fled in the starlight from Bethlehem to Egypt.
Now let’s discuss what we DON’T know. We don't know where he grew up, we don’t know his age, his religious party, how he dressed or where or how he died. Most of what we know about Joseph comes from the first two chapters of Matthew’s gospel and the first two chapters of Luke’s gospel.
Although often portrayed as an older man we have no reason to believe he was actually older, he was more than likely a teenager like Mary.
What we know 100% about Joseph is that he was willing to take a risk when he heard from God. He was obedient in spite of the fact that he received very little press over the centuries. We hope you enjoy this message about how the FAITH of Joseph would help change the world.
