10: The History of Welfare
Listen now
Description
Sister Julie B. Beck and Elder Glen Rudd (emeritus) discuss the history of the welfare program and the Relief Society's role in that history.  Elder Rudd has served as a General Authority, worked as the manager of Welfare Square for over 25 years, served on the General Welfare Committee, and was the director of zone operations for the Welfare Services Department.  In 1992 he was commissioned by the First Presidency to write a history of the Church welfare system, which is titled Pure Religion, the Story of Church Welfare since 1930.  At age 92 he still has an office in the Welfare Department and works every day writing additional histories of the welfare program.
