David Thesmar - Over half of entrepreneurs oversimate their development potential when they first create their business. Only 5% underestimate this factor. Entreprenueurs convistions and their financial decisions are positively correlated. Realists generally opt for long term financing plans, whereas optimists tend to choose seemingly less qcostly, short-term financing solutions - David Thesmar is an associate professor of finance at HEC Paris and a research affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. He is also a member of the French Coundl for Economic Analisis. In 2007, Thesmar received the Best Young Economist Award attributes by the Cercle of Economistes (French Economists' association) and the newspaper Le Monde. He was appointed scientific director of HEC's BNP Paribas Hedge Fund Center in 2008. This education and reserach institute focuses on hedge fund-related business models, management, and value creation. Thesmar's research interests include corporate finance and the impact of financial reforms.
