“I just listened to the episode broadcast through Reply All...the one about the protester who was savagely harassed by the NYPD. I listen to a lot of challenging podcasts but never in my life have I broken down sobbing in the middle of one with such ferocity. I’m a white person and this podcast made me more aware, in new horrific ways, of my privilege and our racist system and the brutality of our militarized police. More than anything has in a long time. I protest a lot (not in NYC) and there’s absolutely no way in hell something like this would EVER happen to me. Never. I can’t believe this story wasn’t national news and that’s the terrible thing to realize — this kind of thing goes on constantly all over the US and we never hear about it. I’m sick but this has truly renewed me for the fight. Thank you. (Beyond all that — it’s just a crazy good podcast.)”
