“Hi Janet, I really appreciate you posting these podcasts since I never have time to read any of your blog posts that my wife sends me. Being able to listen while I drive is super convenient and lets me think about how I can apply your ideas for raising my 2.5 yo daughter.
Now for some other thoughts/feedback:
1. The volume is super low. I really have to crank up the stereo which means if I forget to turn it down when I switch to something else then I get blasted. This is likely an expense for fancy podcast equipment so I can understand if that’s not something you’re ready to invest in. That also leads to…
2. Sponsorships! You’re probably on this already, but a common way podcasts monetize is to do live reads in the beginning/middle/end for a sponsor where they have a unique code for a website so if we sign up for some service with your code then you get money, etc.
3. Bring in a guest/assistant. It’s super rare on radio/podcasts for an individual to just talk to themselves the whole time. You do a good job, but I found myself today listening to my 5th ep or so thinking that the show would be improved if you had someone there with you. They could maybe read the questions, laugh at your jokes, ask follow up/devils advocate questions from the parents perspective, etc. When it’s just you talking it can feel a little fingerwaggy and can tend to go in circles with repeating certain points. You do an awesome job considering the degree of difficulty with being alone with a microphone, but I think having the right person there with you could really take the podcast to the next level.
Thanks again!”
