“I have listened to Critical Role, The Adventure Zone, Dungeons & Daddies, Not Another D&D Podcast, and Dimension 20. Resting Glitch Face tops them all. Resting Glitch Face doesn’t have professional voice actors or comedians (although the character work and comedy are great), but it has DRAMA oozing out of its every pore.
Best of all, it keeps the boring parts of actual plays (being fight scenes) down to a minimum. (Yes, fights are the most boring part of actual plays. Hearing a lively depiction of a well-coreographed fight is interesting, but what you tend to get from actual plays is, “OK, I want to do this thing.” “Roll.” “I missed.” “Alright, what does the next person want to do?” Etc.)
The characters interact with each other so seamlessly that you forget that the players aren’t just playing themselves. Finally, the GM Eric brilliantly interjects with a bolt of tension every time the characters begin to get a bit too comfortable.
This podcast probably isn’t for everyone, as it is far from what you would expect from a typical Shadowrun game. If you looking for inter-character drama set in the cyberpunk future of Chicago, Resting Glitch Face is where it’s at.”
