“I learned of this story from an interview between Dan Duane and the founders of the Florida Surf Film Festival. I listened to it while on vacation on pre/post surf session walks in San Diego, Laguna Beach, and Los Angeles. Finished the last episode walking the beach here on Orchid Island. As a lifelong surfer, I’ve always had a respectful concern for sharks in the lineup. I’ve been bumped and brushed, but never bitten. I cannot imagine the terror or the trauma experienced by those who have and survived. Dan does a fantastic job of giving his interview subjects the space and respect to tell their stories. I can’t say that I would venture into the waters of Reunion Island, but I will definitely travel there someday.”
