Black Bear (2020) with Lawrence Michael Levine and Matthew L. Weiss
Description
Hello! Welcome to a very exciting episode of the audio commentary podcast hosted by me, David Hughes.
One of my favourite films released this year (in the US, at least) was Black Bear, a merciless examination of the personal cost of making art from life experience, featuring a tour de force performance from the reliably brilliant Aubrey Plaza, with Sarah Gabon and Christopher Abbott also excellent. Our exclusive audio commentary features writer-director Lawrence Michael Levine and his editor Matthew L. Weiss (the deeper voice of the pair, in case you forget who's who), and moves beyond the film itself to cover a wide range of issues regarding the inspiration for the film. American and Canadian listeners who've seen the film – and if you haven't, you can find it here (US) or here (Canada) – can enjoy the commentary either as a podcast or cued up to the film (listen out for the instructions at the start), but listeners in the UK will have to wait a little longer, as the film isn't due for release here until March 2021. I promise you it's worth the wait.
I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to 'Larry' and 'Matt' for agreeing to sit down and revisit the film exclusively for Rogue Commentary, and for providing such a fantastic episode to follow our deep dive into Die Hard.
