Excellent telling of a classic Chinese novel
I did not think I would last through over a hundred episodes of battles, military strategy and a host of different names of generals and advisors etc. but I did and this is all thanks to the great storytelling of John Zhu. After listening to a podcast on the myth of the monkey king, I wanted to learn more about the Chinese classics and as a child I saw my parents watch a TV series adaptation of the Three Kingdoms. I thought I would read an English translation of the novel, but then came across this podcast which characterized itself as a telling of the classic to make it more accessible to a Western audience and I thought, hey even better! If you aren’t sure about this, just listen. It’s educational and funny and engaging.

Thank you for doing this. I tried to read the books a few times and never managed to go past a few chapters. The podcast is more like a story and much easier to follow. Very entertaining.
