Thoroughly Entertaining and Delightfully Educational.
John Zhu has taken an intimidating classic of Chinese literature and has opened it up for the enjoyment of all. His narration is always engaging and he provides ample context for the cultural, historical and literary inclusions that come with each new chapter of the story. His style is approachable and immersive. It puts audiobooks to shame. Essentially, if you love epic battles, cunning stratagems, philosophical sparring, good old-fashioned honourable duelling, devious political machinations, nick-of-time rescues, unlikely allies, charismatic champions, adventures across vast and varied geography, a hint of romance and a whole lot of awesomeness, this is the podcast you need in your life. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is very much like Babylon 5, Lord of the Rings, or Game of Thrones, except those are fiction, whereas this is history with fictional elements blended in.
