Everton’s summer fitness drive has been punctured by injuries. The best performance of pre-season so far was built on the return of a number of key stars as the Blues achieved a comfortable victory over Preston North End. But it was also an afternoon marred by new fitness concerns. There were several absences as Sean Dyche acted with caution as he sought to protect his squad.
