“50 year old Lifelong Seinfeld fan here.
I want to start this review by saying I don’t understand any of the negative ratings.
I can understand a low rating for poor content, but Only one bad rating even left a review and they pointed out how trivial the hosts were being, delving into everything from set design to wardrobe choices, picking it apart …. but if you look at the description of the show and the especially the title, you would realize THAT’S THE POINT!
These guys say that they’re Ruining Seinfeld,
But nothing could be further from the truth.
Not only are they being extremely thorough…
(I mean, they inventoried almost everything in every room on the few episodes I’ve listened to so far)
they are ALSO offering criticism where is rightfully deserved. No one else is doing this or has done this that I’ve heard. Mostly probably because they’re afraid that they would offend other Seinfeld fans or the creators. (Which I can understand)
A lot of other podcasts tend to kiss the butt of the creator….. not these guys….
While, they do love the show and that is very evident…. They definitely pick apart The things that make absolutely no sense. I think they even have a few in show conspiracy theories that I’m picking up on about Jerry and Kramer.
I’ve listened to pretty much every single Seinfeld podcast out there.... and not many can compete with Seincast. I still listen to that show and it’s been out of production for years. I will usually write off a podcast after one or two episodes if it doesn’t hold my attention.
With this show , I’m drawn in from the first couple of minutes each time because they start talking about nostalgia from the 90s right away.
They will mention a song that was popular at the time, one example “baby baby” by Amy grant … (I laughed so hard at that)
They also mention a movie from the time that stars a Seinfeld actor… which I thought was pretty cool.
Then they waste no time getting right into the episode, they mention “unseen characters” and I actually got a little startled when an unexpected thunderclap snapped “dark Seinfeld “ at me after they mention someone dying. Cracked me up after I realized what happened.
Also, they do impressions not all of them are great, but some are pretty good!
They also talk about nostalgic things other than Seinfeld , but don’t get too of the rails with their personal lives. Like a lot of other shows do.
The ONE thing that usually bothers me the most about Seinfeld review shows is when people recite the quotes. These guys don’t always do direct quotes it seems, they kind of go into third person mode if that makes sense.
While it’s not my favorite part of the show, It’s not as bad as others I’ve heard where people just quote the entire clip you just heard.
You can kind of tell that These guys are in their beginning stages, so it will be interesting to watch them grow.
They seem like they know each other really well in a couple episodes, but in one episode, they said that they didn’t even actually know each other at all so I was kind of confused.
Also, I found myself rewinding quite a bit to absorb some of things that they said. A lot of stuff I’ve never heard before which is weird because, I began watching in the 90s while it was airing as a child understanding almost none of the jokes.
Over the years, I’ve meticulously watched the DVDs and scoured the notes about nothing . I’m a member of many online Seinfeld communities, and have a decent reputation in all of them.
I’m not saying that you should listen to my opinions, but I am saying that you should at least give this podcast a shot. Definitely keeps me laughing. I’m catching up on all of the episodes and now I actually have a new podcast to look forward to every week.
Keep it up guys you’re doing good things
I’d say sorry for the long review,
I think it’s important for people to understand that a chance to grow and you’ll never know if it’s good if someone doesn’t tell you that it’s good…. So.
listen to the show.
it’s great….
REALLY REALLY GREAT!!!!”
