Head scratching commencing
I usually love Gordon’s work. Today I am dismayed. What should have been a great piece of discussion turned into white foreign mansplaining on how falsely virtuous BLM can be, and how no one who cares about activism should have voted for Joe Biden. It occurs to me, with respect, that neither commentator had to live IN AMERICA over the last four years. One of them had never lived here at all. Therefore, what may seem to you as a trifle of wispy white optimism and hypocrisy is actually you, sir, armchair quartbacking from extremely cheap seats on your farm in Tasmania. With respect - save your breath. People are allowed to evolve. That includes politicians. And, I didn’t think that Joe was a perfect candidate by far, but you have not ever had to make a decision for survival with your vote, I reckon. Joe is a far cry from four years of electoral and political terror. You did not have to experience that. Ever. So please save your breath. That was just dumb. And last time I checked, you are also white. So your speculation of virtue misuse is contrived. You don’t look like some ennobled scholar peering down on the other stupid white people - you look like a clueless white guy with a podcast - not an expert or judge of others. This discussion became vapid quickly. Lived experience is a thing. You have not lived the American experience for the last four years. Your words mean nothing. You didn’t have to vote here. And you like to hear yourself talk on this thing. Well, good for you I guess ....

Having been a listener for a while, I find myself so distracted by Gordon’s deep inhales for breath. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. I hope it improves because I do enjoy the topics of discussion.

I find the rune soup blog much more interesting overall, personally. The podcast seems to be more about the history of modern magic and magicians. And well done if that's your bag!Read full review »
