Loses two stars for its wokery
I really like Matt Bevan as a broadcaster: he’s not just witty, but very adept at explaining things. He has a great ability to haul out just the right piece of archival audio/video even if it’s decades old. And like Andrew Denton, he brilliantly balances being entertaining and being analytical. So why just two stars? Because it’s all ruined by the first sentence of every one of his podcasts in the last year: “This podcast is recorded on the lands of the [insert three indigenous tribal names] people.” Seriously - who does he think cares? Is he actually sitting there thinking: ‘I’d better do some nativist tokenism or I’ll lose listeners’? In short, you can’t pretend to be analytical, independent-minded or politically disinterested if you’re allowing yourself to be captured by the identity-politics Left and its toxic obsession with racial grievances. He needs to strip out this slacktivist, gesture-politics line from his podcast and stop genuflecting. It’s an unforced error and it’s taking half of his credibility with it.

More reviews of If You're Listening
Such a brilliant synopsis of the proceedings to date. I look forward to every episode and the “Trumpdates” are always a welcome surprise. I con not recommend this highly enough.

Great series. Easy to listen too, easy to understand and takes an Australian angle, which is great entertainment. It’s the study notes that go with regular watching of #PlanetAmerica and shines a light on the issues mainstream media outlets do not have time to provide. #greatwork
