“I really wanted to like this show. Gimlet tends to be a hit or miss with their new shows. This one had an interesting first episode to draw me in. Then soon, the 25-min episodes are almost halfway filled with SO MANY ADS, all with some kind of AI-themes like this show’s premise. The ads really killed the flow of the story. On the third episode, I was just annoyed. It’s hard to want to keep listening when I had to constantly fast forward 15 seconds repeatedly to skip the IDENTICAL ADS. So painful to binge all the episodes. It was soon quite easy to tell that there’s really not much of a story or character development beyond the interesting setup, wonderful voice acting and sound design. The setup of a team of humans playing an AI is more believable than the main character Helen herself. With Sandra, Gimlet seems to have built a beautifully engineered glass building, filled with high-end contemporary furnitures and beautiful celebrity actors, but sadly with zero human heart or soul. This is such a disappointment. I finished all 7 episodes and immediately unsubscribe.”
