Victim Blaming Turned Me Off
I was really getting into this podcast until I listened to the episode with the swiffer girl. They gloss over the sexual assault of a child and said she should just do the work to get over it. This does not excuse her actions as an adult, but this is a perfect case of tell me you are not a victim of childhood trauma without telling me you’re not a victim of childhood trauma. We’re talking about a 13-year-old girl who is the victim of an incredibly damaging sexual assault and the continuing aftermath of shame and ostracism, including her parents normalizing it. This is an incredibly serious trauma that is not easy to just get over or even do the work. A few episodes later, they gave a big pass to all the kids, the rich kids, in the college admissions scandal. I enjoyed the show, but I can’t listen to this anymore.
