7. The Christian Ghetto: The Only Way Out Is Through: The Dissident Right and Postmodernism
Listen now
Description
This morning, quite early for me, I was joined with two overseas members of the Christian Ghetto group chat, and to discuss postmodernism, the hermeneutical problem, and their importance for our political moment. Many decry critical theory as the source of all which is wrong with today. But the reality is that there would be no critical theory without enlightenment liberalism. The real “enemy” is the enlightenment frame within which we are trapped. Critical theory, while it has its own flaws —which we discuss— helps us break out of the modernist reality within which we are enframed. Pushing through to the other side raises the possibility of once again reconnecting with our living Christian tradition, offering us both a revitalization of wisdom and true authority. The story of Solomon, the baby and the two mothers features prominently.
