As the former Assistant Chief of the Asset Forfeiture Division Complex Assets Unit at the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Joanna led her team to build the USMS Cryptocurrency program, beginning with the landmark Silk Road Bitcoin seizure. Under her guidance, the program oversaw the custody, management, and disposal of all ongoing business and complex financial instruments that are subject to forfeiture, evolving from conducting sealed bid auctions to implementing a streamlined liquidation process via cryptocurrency exchanges.
