“Dear Samia,
I’d first like to say THANK YOU! Thank you for your voice and vulnerability. Ever since I’ve started listening to your show I have been empowered to share my story with people close to me. I’ve been a fan for a long time and I do mean fan. I met you in the bathroom at the Flite one homecoming and I was starstruck! I was like “omg you’re the sex lady” 😂 You’re like my mentor in my head. As an older gen z (‘98, missed being a millennial by a hair lol) and sexual health advocate and enthusiast, your platform is important to me because it shows that it’s important to talk and learn about all aspects of our being: mind, body, and spirit! One of my professors at FAMU used to say “to thine own self be true” and you are the essence of that! You inspire me to remain gracious and authentic because everything that is meant for me finds its way to me. I also get excited when you speak about your skating journey. Skating is one of my favorite metaphors for life because in the rink sometimes you’re gonna fall and if you stay on the ground you won’t be able keep moving. Some folks will pass you by, some will laugh, and some will help you up. I see myself in you as the Black woman who is strong and independent but also recognizes the importance of balancing it with softness and grace. I just want to let you know that your work is extremely appreciated and I can’t wait to see the things that you do next!
Love,
Your mentee from across the sea🫶🏿
P.S.- Not really I just wanted it to rhyme😂”
