“....but it's a struggle. I appreciate their enthusiasm and rapport, but parts of the podcast can be downright awkward and unlistenable. They have great guests, but its hard to appreciate that when the hosts frequently and almost always talk over each other AND the guest, usually just to make a corny or cringe-worthy joke that just about ALWAYS falls flat. I downloaded a handful of these, and could barely make it through them, finally getting to the point where I just skipped through the hosts' banter and shoddy audio quality just to get to the guest. And that was STILL painful. On the episode I tried listening to this morning, I became so irritated and disgusted with the hosts that I almost deleted it right then and there. The episode in question was with "Cajun medium" Maline LaNoux...if I were her, I would be pretty stinking peeved that through the majority of the interview, neither host could pronounce her first OR last name, even AFTER she repeated it back to them more than once. I couldn't focus on the actual interview bc I couldn't help but note every time this woman was called "Maleece" or "Malee" or even "Malila" (I guess Shaun was confusing her name with previous guest, Kalila Smith?). And don't get me started on her last name. Even after she corrected them, they still said her last name was "LaKnox". And this on top of so many other small mistakes (its Papa Legba, NOT Papa Lugba). And please guys...just bc you are interviewing someone from New Orleans or Louisiana, it DOES NOT mean you need to try and speak in an exaggerated Cajun dialect for the ENTIRE interview.
I know all this sounds petty, but these small issues are just compounded by the other issues of the forced laughing, awkward conversation, Shaun's flirting with the female guests (dude, you're the "wild and crazy" one, we get it). I'm honestly not trying to rip these guys apart. I really wanted to enjoy this podcast but after struggling to get through another episode, hoping it would have improved as I got further along, I just find myself mad that I wasted my time.”
