Normalizing for Someone Living w/ a Chronic Illness
I live with chronic illnesses. The chronic illness/disability podcasts I’ve found typically have a more serious tone. That consistent tone across media reinforces shame and the “othering” I have subconsciously soaked up from an ableist culture. This podcast leaves all that subconsciously-negative out. Because these thoughtful, warm, funny men crack jokes about the unglamorous reality of living with disability so casually, the diagnoses they explore feel normal! Instead of this heavy, awkward thing that hangs over someone’s head, it just makes the disability, chronic illness, etc an interesting *part* of who they are. Thanks for the laughs expanding my paradigm about my own body and resulting life. I’m deeply grateful for this podcast.
